Editorial policy

This page describes how Northern Play Quest is written and what readers can hold us to. It was last reviewed in September 2026.

Independence

We accept no payment, discount, free entry or other consideration from escape room operators, their agencies or anyone with a commercial interest in the subject. We carry no advertising and use no affiliate links. Every room we describe was booked under our own names at the public rate, and operators are not told we are visiting. If a member of the team has a personal or financial connection to an operator, they do not write about that city.

No named venues

We do not name, rank, link to or describe individual operators, venues or brands, and we do not name individuals who work at them. We write about neighbourhoods, price ranges, formats and the character of a local scene. Requests for coverage are declined without reply. We are aware this is unusual for a guide; it is the point.

Sourcing

Prices, durations, deposit norms and lead times come from our own bookings, cross-checked against publicly listed rates in the month a guide is reviewed. Transit details are checked against the current published network. Tax figures are the statutory rates for each province. Where a figure is a range, it is because operators genuinely vary; where it is a single number, it is because they do not.

Corrections

We correct errors of fact promptly and note the correction at the foot of the affected page with the date. Write to contact@northernplayquest.com. We do not remove or alter opinion in response to complaints from operators.

Reader tips

We welcome tips from readers about neighbourhoods, price changes and calendar quirks. We verify tips ourselves before using them, and we do not credit tipsters by name unless asked.

Dates

Each guide shows a first-published date and the date of its last full review. The masthead date is the month of the most recent site-wide review.
